How to Brew Sencha
Enjoy the steps of brewing Sencha, Japan’s most beloved green tea
What You Need
- Leaf sencha (3 g per cup)
- Teapot
- Tea cups
- Measuring spoon
- Hot water
How to Brew Green Tea

Step 1
Pour freshly boiled water into teacups (about 60 ml each) and allow it to cool to 70–80°C (158–176°F).

Place tea leaves into the teapot — 1 teaspoon (approx. 3 g) per person.

Pour the cooled water from the teacups into the teapot.

Step 4
Put on the lid and let the tea steep for about 1 minute.

Step 5
To ensure an even flavor, pour the tea into the cups a little at a time, alternating between cups in this order: 1 → 2 → 2 → 1.

Pour out every last drop.
